List Of Heisman Trophy Winners By Year

USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams won the Heisman trophy last year. The 6 feet 1 inch USC junior had a phenomenal year to remember.

Caleb recorded throwing 4,537 yards, and 52 total touchdowns of 42 passing, and ten rushing in 2020 en route to grabbing the coveted award.

Furthermore, Caleb also bagged the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, Sporting News College Football Player of the Year award, and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year award in 2022.

In addition to his five Player of the Year award wins, he became the AP College Football Player of the Year. He is USC's first winner since Reggie Bush. While his profound success came after his transfer to the Trojans, he previously played for Oklahoma Sooners. 

NFL rookie Bryce Young won the 2021 Heisman Trophy at the end of the 2021 season. Young is the first Alabama quarterback to win the award.

Moreover, he also won the AP Player of the Year, the Davey O'Brien Award, the Manning Award, the Maxwell Award, and the SEC Offensive Player of the Year. His record of 4,872 yards, 47 passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions made him the star that year. 

Bryce decided not to play his senior year and entered the 2023 NFL Draft. Carolina Panthers selected him as the first overall pick in the draft.

As a 21-year-old in the National Football League, he is currently one of the youngest players carrying huge expectations for the Panthers.

DeVonta made history as the first wide receiver since 1991 to win the Heisman Trophy in 2020. He is also the fourth WR to receive the trophy in NCAA football history.

The same year, he also bagged the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, Fred Biletnikoff Award, Paul Hornung Award, AP College Football Player of the Year award, Sporting News College Football Player of the Year award, and the SEC Offensive Player of the Year award.

DeVonta Smith is a two-time CFP national champion with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2017 and 2020. He ended his senior year in 2020 with a national championship.

The Philadelphia Eagles later selected him as the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. His overall league records as of 23rd May 2023, show that he has 159 receptions, 2,112 points of receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns.

Joe Burrow won the 2019 Heisman Trophy as a senior for the LSU Tigers. The rising QB is amongst the most attractive NFL players in 2023.

Burrow also won the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Davey O'Brien Award and Manning Award in 2019.

Furthermore, he was named the AP College Football Player of the Year, Sporting News College Football Player of the Year, and EC Offensive Player of the Year. The same year, Fighting Tigers became the CFP national champion, and Joe was named the CFP Offensive MVP.

Burrow was selected first overall by the Cincinnati Bengals at the 2020 NFL Draft. The young quarterback went on to become the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award winner.

Known for his calm personality despite being under pressure, he bagged the 2022 AP Comeback Player of the Year award, USA Today reported.

Kyler Murray is another illustrious name in the list of past Heisman trophy winners. He was a junior for Oklahoma Sooners during his 2019 win. 

He also won the Davey O'Brien Award, Manning Award, AP College Football Player of the Year award, and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.

Before Oklahoma, Murray was a true freshman at Texas A&M. He transferred to Oklahoma in 2016 and did not play for the entire season, per NCAA rules. 

Following his 2018 graduation, Kyler was drafted first overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2019 NFL Draft. In Week 14 of the 2022 Cardinals season, he suffered from a non-contact knee injury during his game against the New England Patriots.

The Qb missed the season as the injury was an ACL tear, NFL reported. Kyler ended his recent season with 2,368 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

QB Baker Mayfield became the first walk-on player to win the Heisman in 2017. Baker is currently signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in NFL.

Mayfield had just transferred as a senior to the University of Oklahoma after a season with Texas Tech when he bagged the prestigious award.

He also won the 2017 Manning Award, Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, Davey O'Brien Award, and Chic Harley Award for his great season.

Mayfield was selected first overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 NFL Draft. He played with them till the 2021 season in a total of 60 games.

Baker became a part of the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams in 2022 and joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2023 season.

Qb Lamar Jackson became the youngest player to win the Heisman Trophy in 2016. Lamar was 19 years and 337 days old sophomore at that time.

Lamar also bagged the 2016 Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, AP College Football Player of the Year award, and Sporting News Player of the Year award for his impressive performances throughout the year.

Jackson was a part of the Louisville Cardinals football team during that time. Baltimore Ravens later selected him as the 32nd overall pick in 2018.

As of 2023, the Ravens and Lamar have extended their bond with a five-year contract worth $260 million. The deal makes Jackson Lamar the highest-paid player in the NFL.

Derrick Henry won the 2015 Heisman Trophy as a junior for Alabama Crimson Tide. He covered 2,219 yards and recorded 28 touchdowns on 395 carries, making him the leading player that season.

Henry is known for his large stature at 6 feet 3 inches and his rushing demeanor, which is a big help in his gameplay. Besides Heisman, he also won the 2015 Maxwell Award, Doak Walker Award, Walter Camp Award, and was the SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

King Henry entered the 2016 NFL Draft right after his junior season at Alabama. The Titans selected him 45th overall in the second round.

As of 2020, the two parties signed a new four-year extension contract worth $50 million. Derrick has played over 100 games for Tennessee Titans.

Marcus Mariota of the Oregon Ducks lifted the Heisman in 2014 as the first Hawaii-born athlete. Mariota was a junior at the Ducks back then.

He went on to celebrate his win of that year's Maxwell Award, Manning Award, Walter Camp Award, and Davey O'Brien Award, among others.

Marcus also won the 2014 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. Furthermore, he also became the AP College Football Player of the Year, Sporting News Player of the Year, Polynesian Football Player of the Year, and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year.

Besides his major award victories, Marcus entered the 2015 NFL Draft and was selected in the first round as a second overall pick by the Tennessee Titans as one of the top quarterbacks.

He played with the Titans till the 2019 season and signed with Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 for a year.  Mariota then spent another season at Atlanta Falcons, and as of 2023, he will be playing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jameis Winston won the Heisman in 2013 and is currently the second-youngest player to win the trophy. He was an FSU quarterback back then.

Winston became the third player from the Seminoles to win the highly coveted award. He was a freshman then, adding to his impressive traits as a football prodigy.

Jameis was selected as the first pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2015 NFL Draft. He made it to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2015.

After playing till 2019 with the Buccaneers, he signed with the New Orleans Saints and continues to excel at the Qb role for the Saints to date.
