Jaren Jackson Jr dad Jaren Walter Jackson Sr. is the assistant coach of the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League. He was born on 27 October 1967 in New Orleans.

He went to Cohen College Prep High School, where he graduated as the valedictorian. He then played basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team while attending his Finance classes. 

However, the 6 feet 6 inches basketball powerhouse went undrafted at the 1989 NBA Draft and became a traveling swingman for most of his pro carer.

Jaren Sr. initially spent his time playing as a free agent for the New Jersey Nets before switching to four seasons in the CBA and one in the World Basketball League.

Jackson Sr. played with various NBA teams, including Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, and Washington Bullets since 1992.

He was a part of the 1999 San Antonio Spurs squad when they won their first NBA championship under Gregg Popovich. Jaren spent thirteen seasons in NBA, with his last team being the Orlando Magic in 2002.

Since then, the veteran has taken coaching as a main-go in his life. His LinkedIn confirms that he took his current position in December 2020 and previously worked at La Lumiere School.

He assisted the school team in becoming the 2017 High School Championship. Jaren Sr. is best known for his time with Fort Wayne Mad Ants as their assistant coach from 2007-008 and 2014-015.

Furthermore, the former NBA player also spent time with Saint John Mill Rats and Ottawa SkyHawks as a coach from 2011 to 2014.

Jaren Jackson Jr mom Terri Carmichael Jackson has been the Executive Director of WNBPA since May 2016. She was previously the Director of Law, Policy, and Governance at the NCAA from 2012 to 2016.

She is credited for her negotiations of higher pay and increased maternity benefits for WNBA players. She was a key figure in launching WNBPA's multi-year partnership with PepsiCo to finance philanthropic causes in 2021.

Terri has been featured in Sports Business Journal's "Gamechanger" in 2019 and Sports Illustrated’s “The Unrelenting” as one of the most powerful women in sports figures in 2020.

Mrs. Jackson obtained her Bachelor's degree in Arts from Georgetown University, where she met her husband. She continued her studies and graduated with a J.D. from the same university.

Unlike her hubby and son, Terri played tennis and also did cheerleading during her high school days. 

Before her impactful role at the Women’s National Basketball Players Association, she co-founded the Back on the Block Foundation. She started her work right after graduation and taught law at Tulane University.

She also worked at a law firm in Louisiana and later at the University of the District of Columbia's athletics department as a legal counsel.

Jaren Jackson Jr. family also includes his maternal grandparents Leroy Carmichael and Eva Carmichael. LeRoy practiced law in Trenton, New Jersey until his passing on May 1, 2010.

He was a graduate of Rider College and Seton Hall University. Meanwhile, his wife Eva motivated Jaren to give back to the community

Jaren Jr. launched his "Much Required" fundraising campaign in October 2022 through social media. The fundraisers donated to Arts Memphis, Girls Inc., Memphis Slim House, Vance Avenue Youth Development Center, and Women’s Foundation for Greater Memphis last year.

The Michigan State graduate, Jaren Jr., was born in Plainfield and grew up in Carmel, Indianapolis. His maternal side of the family includes his surviving uncle Keith and aunt Aita. 

The Jacksons' constant involvement in basketball and sports foundations has named them an athletic clan in Memphis. Meanwhile, Jackson Sr. and Terri are based in New York due to their work.

Jalen Jr. lives in Memphis due to his team requirements but returns to his home whenever possible.
