LA, California has been home to some of the most outstanding golf players who have made massive marks on the PGA Tour over the years.
In the opening round of the 2023 US Open, Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler each shot a 62, which was the lowest round ever at the US Open and tied for the lowest major round ever.
However, Rory McIlroy moved on the leaderboard after making a birdie at the par-3 15th, his sixth of the first round and first on the back nine.
McIlroy is tied for third position at -6, two shots back of co-leaders Fowler and Schauffele, with Americans Dustin Johnson and Wyndham Clark.

1. Collin Morikawa
Born in Los Angeles, Collin Morikawa played college golf at the University of California, Berkeley. Morikawa plays on PGA and European Tours.
Before turning pro, he was the top-ranked golfer in the World Amateur golf raking in 2018. Collin started his professional career in 2019 making his debut at the 2019 RBC Canadian Open.
Morikawa has won five times on the PGA Tour, including the PGA Championship in 2020 and the Open Championship in 2021. He reached the career-high 2nd ranking on October 24, 2021.
2. J.J Spaun
J.J. Spaun is a pro golfer born in Los Angeles on August 21, 1990. J.J. got his first PGA Tour victory in the 2022 Valero Texas Open after 147 starts.
He studied at the San Diego State University where he competed in college golf, earning two All-Mountain West Conference selections in 2010 and 2011, as well as Conference Player of the Year in 2012.
In 2011, Spaun was named to the Third team of All-Americans, and in 2012, he was named to the Second Team. After ending his collegiate golf career, he embarked on a professional golf journey in 2012.
He participated in his first three seasons on the PGA Tour of Canada in 2013, placing 35th. Spaun broke the single-season earnings record for the PGA Tour of Canada with two tournaments left in the 2015 season.

David Berganio Jr was born on January 14, 1969, in Los Angeles, California. David is a professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour.
Playing college golf at the University of Arizona he won the US Amateur Public Links in 1991 and 1993. Berganio Jr. has competed on both the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour, where he has won three times.
His greatest performance on the PGA Tour came at the 2002 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, where he fell to Phil Mickelson in a playoff. He placed seventh in the qualifying round for the 2008 season, earning a full card for the 2009 season.
He played on the 1993 Walker Cup winning team and was a two-time champion of the U.S. Amateur Public Links. David teamed up with Todd Demsey to defeat a team that included Padraig Harrington in a foursome match.
4. Anthony Kim
Anthony Kim has won three PGA Tour and played in one Ryder Cup competition. Anthony is an LA, California native born on June 19, 1995.
He completed his high school at La Quinta High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. While playing at the University, he met his caddie, Brodie Flanders, and was a part of the 2005 Walker Cup.
Anthony began his professional career in 2006 under the sponsor's exemption and at the 2006 Valero Texas Open he tied for second place.
During his first season on the PGA Tour, he had four top-10 finishes on the PGA tour and move into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings in May 2007.
Kim set the record for the most birdies in a round at the 2009 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia with eleven in the second round.
5. David Lipsky
David Lipsky started playing golf when he was only 10 years old. Lipsky was an All-American during his college career at Northwestern University.
After graduating from University, he started playing golf professionally and joined Asian Tour in 2012. David won the Big Ten individual title in 2010 after finishing the first 72 holes at 3-under 281.
Lipsky was 11th on the Order of Merit as a rookie after winning the 2012 Handa Faldo Cambodian Classic. He later participated in the Web Tour.
He won the Omega European Masters and finished first in the Order of Merit on the Asian Tour, securing his position at the first WGC event, and a European Tour exemption through 2016.
However, he finished the year among the top 150 players in the world. David won the Alfred Dunhill Championship on December 16, 2018, at Leopard Creek Country Club in South Africa.
6. Phil Mickelson
Phil Mickelson became the oldest major championship winner in history at the age of 50 years with his win at the 2021 PGA Championship.
Mickelson completed his high school education at the University of San Diego. He learned to play golf from his father before attending school.
Moreover, Phil received a golf scholarship to Arizona State University in Tempe and rose to prominence as the national junior golf champion.
Mickelson became the second college golfer to receive first-team All-American recognition in each of his four years. He also made history in 1990 by becoming the first player to win the U.S. Amateur championship using a left-handed swing.
Since beginning his pro career in 1992, he has registered 45 PGA Tour victories. Phil is one of just 17 golfers in history to have won at least three of the four majors.

7. Bryson DeChambeau
Bryson DeChambeau has eight PGA Tour wins, including one major title and the 2020 U.S. Open. DeChambeau is now a member of the LIV Golf.
He was born in Modesto, California, and studied at Clovis East High School. He won the California State Junior Championship when he was 16.
Bryson made his PGA Tour debut in June 2015 as an amateur at the FedEx St. Jude Classic close to Memphis, Tennessee, where he placed 45th.
He joined Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, and Ryan Moore as the sixth golfer to win both the NCAA and U.S. Amateur championships.
DeChambeau won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March 2021 at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida. He defeated Lee Westwood by one stroke with a one-under 71 in the final round.
8. Patrick Cantlay
Patrick Cantlay is a professional American golfer born in Long Beach, California. Patrick has won the 2021 FedEx Cup and eight PGA Tour.
While attending the University of California, Cantlay won the Phil Mickelson Award for being the GCAA National Freshman of the Year in addition to being the Pac-10 Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
Since starting his professional career in 2012, Cantlay won for the first time as a professional at the 2013 Colombia Championship, a Web.com Tour competition.
Cantlay competed at the Masters' Tournament and the RBC Heritage early in the 2023 season, placing T14 and third.
