UGA players in the NFL includes Nick Chubb, D'Andre Swift, Roquan Smith, Matthew Stafford and more. Bulldogs have been drafted to 32 teams since 1938.
UGA joined NFL that year while the league has existed since 1920.
The University of Georgia is located in Athens, Georgia. The Founding Father Abraham Baldwin founded the university in 1785, making it one of the oldest universities in the United States.
UGA sponsors nineteen sports teams, called Bulldogs, that compete in NCAA Division I and Southeastern Conference (SEC).
The UGA Bulldogs football team has bagged four national championships in 1942, 1980, 2021, and 2022. They play their home games at Sanford Stadium, an on-campus venue with 92,746 seats.
Their official mascot has been a purebred white English Bulldog named Uga X, previously known as Que, since 2015. Besides the championships, the Bulldogs have also won 14 SEC championships.
They have also appeared in 61 bowl games, second-most all-time behind the Alabama Crimson Tide. They also record the nation's longest active bowl streak at 26.
Coach Kirby Smart has been UGA's head coach since 2016. He has been credited with the growth of Georgia's brand name as he led the team to the 2021 National Championship against their rivals Alabama.
Meanwhile, UGA's record of 361 players in the NFL is another boastful fact about them. They also have five No.1 overall draft picks of all time.
In the 2022 NFL Draft, Georgia sent off 15 total NFL Draft selections, a new all-time record set after Ohio State in 2004 and LSU in 2020.
As of 2023, fifty Bulldogs are playing in NFL, with seven players as free agents. Some notable names include RB Nick Chubb, ILB Nakobe Dean, and Tae Crowder.
OLB Justin Houston, RB Elijah Holyfield, OLB Leonard Floyd, WR Chris Conley, and OC Ben Jones are free agents.
UGA Players on Kansas City Chiefs
Six UGA players have made it to Kansas City Chiefs during their draft years. As of 2023, the team is the reigning 2022 Super Bowl Champion and the 2022 American Football Conference Champion.
The Chiefs have drafted many players playing different positions all these years. Meanwhile, wide receivers Chris Conley in 2015's third round and Mecole Hardman in 2018's second round are the only ones to hit the first choices of the team.
In 2023, only the defensive end Malik Herring is active on the Chiefs roster.
The 25-year-old is Georgia's 2018 "Defensive Most Improved Player Award" winner. He was starting defensive end in his senior year though he went unselected at the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Chiefs had signed him as an undrafted free agent, and he made it to the team's final roster in 2022. He is the team's sixth DE and was a part of the group when they won against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Super Bowl LVII.
With the approach of the 2023 NFL Draft, 247Sports has confirmed the names of four UGA prospects for the first draft round. They are:
- Jalen Carter (DT)
- Nolan Smith (ED)
- Broderick Jones (OL)
- Darnell Washington (TE)
This year too, the Chiefs are considering a variety of positions to recruit to defend their championships, and few bulldogs can be chiefs.
UGA Players on New England Patriots
Eleven UGA players have been drafted by New England Patriots to date. The first draft dates back to 1974 when RB Andy Johnson was selected in the fifth round.
Meanwhile, the last draft happened in 2018 during the draft's first round when the Patriots selected OT Isaiah Wynn and RB Sony Michel in the first round.
The Patriots have mainly opted for RBs from UGA though they have also selected other positions.
As of 2023, these players in the Patriots squad are from Georgia University:

In his senior year, Andrews was named Offensive MVP and preseason Third-team All-SEC by Phil Steele. However, he went undrafted at the 2015 NFL Draft and signed with the Patriots as a free agent.
Wynn signed a five-year contract with the team in 2021 and took a salary of $10.413 million for the 2022 season.
On the other hand, Wynn became the second of six Georgians to be drafted by the Patriots in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was selected as the 23rd overall pick in the first round.
UGA Players on Arizona Cardinals
Historically, the first UGA Bulldog drafted by the Cardinals was Frank Harvey in 1994. There are currently two active footballers on the Arizona Cardinals roster.
- Jonathan Ledbetter (DE)
- Javon Wims (WR)
Ledbetter went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft but later played with Miami Dolphins as a free agent. He then signed with the Cardinals practice squad in 2021 before transferring to the Cardinals' main roster in 2022 as a backup defensive end.
Meanwhile, Wims was UGA's leading receiver during his senior in 2017. The Chicago Bears first drafted him in the 2018 NFL Draft and later got into the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad in 2021.
He has since been with the Cleveland Browns from April to August 2022 and the Cardinals since September of the same year.
Atlanta Falcons Players From Gorgia Bulldogs
NFL's Atlanta Falcons consists of three UGA Bulldogs on its active roster. The list goes as follows:
- Lorenzo Carter (OLB)
- John FitzPatrick (TE)
- Justin Shaffer (OG)
The New York Giants selected Carter in the 2018 NFL Draft. He then signed a one-year contract with the Falcons on March 22, 2022, and again re-signed for a two-year contract.
On the other hand, the Falcons drafted FitzPatrick as the 213th pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Likewise, Shaffer was the 90th pick of the Falcons in the same year, but the team waived him on August 30. He again re-signed to the practice squad and has secured a reserve/future contract as of January 9, 2023.
UGA Players on Baltimore Ravens
Three NFL powerhouses play for the 2012 Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens. The list goes as follows:
- Ben Cleveland (OG)
- Nick Moore (LS)
- Roquan Smith (ILB)
Baltimore Ravens had drafted Cleveland in the third round with the 94th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. The four-year-deal four-year rookie contract is worth $4.8 million.
Meanwhile, Moore had gone undrafted during the 2019 NFL Draft. He joined the New Orleans Saints in April of the same year and left the team in August.
After a brief time with Tampa Bay Vipers, Moore has been with the Ravens since 2020.
Roquan Smith is the first Georgia Bulldog to win the Butkus Award. He was also named the MVP of the SEC Championship Game and SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
Roquan was a star for the Chicago Bears until 2022 before joining the Ravens.
For a year, free agent Justin Houston was a part of the Ravens until 2022. He has been playing in NFL since 2011.
Buffalo Bills Drafted UGA Running Back In 2022
Buffalo Bills are home to only one UGA player at the moment. Running Back James Cook was drafted by the Bills in the second round as 63rd overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He was a part of the Bulldogs team when they won the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Cook evolved as the leading receiver for Georgia with 112 yards and one touchdown on four receptions at the end of the game. They had played against Michigan Wolverines during the semi-finals.
Carolina Panthers Has Sour History Of Players From Bulldogs
The current roster of the Carolina Panthers has no UGA players as of the 2023 season. However, the team has a history of drafting six Bulldogs as their first choices during the draft years.
Chris Terry was the first Bulldog to have been drafted by the Panthers in the 1999 NFL Draft. He was selected as a 3rd pick in 34 overall in the second round.
The recent pick was Terry Godwin in 2019. He was the 23rd pick among the 237 overalls of the team in the seventh round. However, both parties cut ties in August of the same year.
Chicago Bears Has Hit Home Run When Drafting UGA Players
NFL Chicago Bears currently has no active UGA player on its 2023 roster. However, the team has drafted the highest number of UGA Bulldogs to date.
They have selected 21 UGA players as their first pick during the main draft event.
The first Bulldog was Jim Fordham was the 7th pick among 67 overall in the eighth round of the 1940 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, Riley Ridley is the most recent person to have been selected by the Bears in 2019.
The Bears' roster was heavily dominated by UGA prospects up until 2018, when it had five active players on it. Roquan Smith, Javon Wims, Leonard Floyd, John Jenkins, and Marlon Brown were all part of the team at one point.

Chubb has been a powerhouse for the Browns since his draft in the second round of 2018. The workhorse and arguably one of the best runners of the ball in the NFL right now, Nick has never failed the team.
Dallas Cowboys Hopes to Draft A Bulldog In 2023
There are no active UGA players on the Dallas Cowboys roster as of 2023. Jerry Jones will be looking at some prospects from UGA in the 2023 draft.
However, the team has chosen 10 UGA Bulldogs during the draft event since 1962. The recent player is the fullback Shaun Chapas, who was selected in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
UGA Players on Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos too, includes no active UGA player on their team. However, it has a history of drafting 12 players since 1967.
Isaiah McKenzie is the last Bulldog recruited to the team in 2017. Tavarres King is another big name on the list.
UGA Players on Detroit Lions
Running Back D'Andre Swift is the only UGA Bulldog in the Detroit Lions 2023 roster.
UGA Players on Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers is currently home to three UGA Bulldogs. Their names and positions are as follows:

Meanwhile, the team has had nine other drafts in the past, starting from 1969.
UGA Players on Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings also include only one player in their current team. The strong safety Lewis Cine is the lone UGA Bulldog at the moment.
He was drafted by the team in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Kris Durham was the last UGA player to have been drafted by the team in 2011.
UGA Players on Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Punter Jake Camarda is the only UGA Bulldog in the current Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. He was selected by them in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
UGA Players on Tennessee Titans
Linebacker Monty Rice is the current active member of the Tennessee Titans. Wide receiver Chris Conley and offensive coordinator Ben Jones were also a part of the team until recently.
Fromm Is The Only UGA Player on Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders includes only one UGA Bulldog in its team. Jake Fromm joined the practice squad on October 18, 2022.
As of January 9, 2023, he is on a reserve/future contract with them. He previously played for Buffalo Bills and New York Giants in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
