Past Winners of BMW PGA Championship are Patrick Cantlay, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Keegan Bradley. It was first played in 2007.
The FedEx Cup Playoffs were introduced in 2007 and started with a series that had four tournaments which was the case until 2018. The format changed to a series of three events in 2019 and is followed till date.
BMW PGA Championship field has now been reduced to the Top 50 starting from 2023 and the tournament had 70 eligible players at the BMW Championship in 2022.
The FedEx Cup which is the championship trophy for the PGA Tour has reduced the playoff field. The field will now have the Top 70 players instead of the 125 players that will qualify for the playoffs.
The 2023 BMW Championship will be held at the Olympia Field Country Club in Olympia Fields, Illinois, and the four-day tournament which is the second tournament of the playoff series is scheduled for August 17-20, 2023. The total purse of the tournament is set at $20,000,000.
Olympia Fields North Course weather forecast suggests that the highest that day will be 27 degrees and the lowest will be 17 degrees on August 17.

Patrick Cantlay - 2022
BMW PGA Championship past winners (PGA Tour) was Patrick Cantlay who won in 2021 and 2022 and is the latest among the many previous champions.
The tournament was held from August 8-21 at the Wilmington Country Club, Wilmington, Delaware. The actual field is supposed to be 70 but two players had withdrawn from the tournament.
Cantlay and Scott Stallings had a close encounter for the championship with Cantley winning by just a single stroke. He shot 68-69-65-69 in his four rounds and had a winning score of 14-under 270 and Stallings finished with 13-under 271.
The total purse of the tournament was $15,000,000 with Cantlay taking home $2,700,000 as the winner's share. He was ranked 7th in the FedEx Cup rankings before the tournament and was placed 2nd after the win.
2021 - August 26-29
The 2021 BMW Championship was held at Caves Valley Golf Club, Jersey City, New York. It had a field of 69 players as Patrick Reed withdrew from the tournament.
Cantlay and Bryson DeChambeau were going head-to-head with each other in the closely contested rounds. They both ended with a score of 27-under 261 and Cantlay beat DeChambeau in a playoff. He was rewarded with $1,710,000 as prize money.
Cantlay loves playing in the BMW Championship as he has always performed well in the tournament and his 27-under that he set while winning is also a tournament record.
Jon Rahm - 2020
Jon Rahm is among the latest golfers in the list of Olympia Fields North Course winners. He won the BMW Championship in 2020 which was held from August 27-30.
The tournament had a pool of 69 players after Webb Simpson decided to sit out of the tournament to rest as he was a guaranteed player at the Tour Championship.
Jon Rahm and Dustin Johnson went at it right from the start and were neck-to-neck the entire time. They ended with an identical final score of 4-under 276 and the champion had to be decided in a playoff.
A closely contested game ended with Rahm's birdie at the first hole in the playoff. He jumped seven places to be ranked 2nd in the FedEx Cup rankings and Johnson remained #1. Rahm got a winner's share of 1,710,000.
Justin Thomas - 2019
The 2019 FedEx Cup Playoffs started with several changes to the format with the most prominent change being, the playoff was now a series of three tournaments instead of four like in previous years.
Justin Thomas was ranked 15th in the FedEx Cup rankings before the start of the BMW Championship which was played between August 15-18. Kevin Na withdrew from the tournament resulting in a 69-man field.
Thomas started by shooting 65 in the first round and Patrick Cantlay was right behind him by shooting 66. Thomas had an amazing third round as he shot 61 and that is where he took the lead and was the favorite to win the tournament.
In the end, he took home the victory after a winning score of 25-under 263 and won by three strokes. He was awarded $1,665,000 as the winner's share and jumped 15 places to be ranked #1. Cantlay was the runners-up in the championship.
Keegan Bradley - 2018
The Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, hosted the annual BMW Championship from September 6-10 and was the last time that the playoffs would have a series of four tournaments.
Keegan Bradley last won on the PGA Tour in 2012 and since then was in a severe drought and bad form. He ranked 52nd at the start of the BMW Championship and started strong after shooting 66 in the first round.
The entire four-day tournament was very closely contested with no one taking a significant lead. Everyone was in touching distance and at the end of the fourth round, Bradley and Justin Rose were tied at 20-under 260. The aggregate score is also the tournament record
They advanced to the sudden-death playoffs and Bradley emerged victorious on the first hole and was awarded $1,620,000 in winnings and the most important part was that he qualified for the Tour Championship as he was now ranked #6, thanks to the win.
Marc Leishman - 2017
Marc Leishman is the 11th winner of the BMW Championship and he started the tournament by being ranked 7th in the FedEx Cup rankings. The tournament was scheduled for September 14-17.
All 70 players who were eligible took on the field to win the championship which is a sight we don't see very often as some players usually withdraw.
Leishman had an amazing start in the first round as he shot 62 and was already on the lead and was consistent throughout the four rounds. He maintained his lead and was on point the entire time.
He finished with a final score of 23-under 261 to win the tournament by 5 strokes and claim his third PGA Tour victory. His -23 was also the tournament record back then and earned $1,575,000 as the winner's share.
Dustin Johnson - 2016
Former World No. 1 golfer who currently plays in LIV Golf won his second BMW Championship in 2016 which was played between September 8-11 at the Crooked Stick Golf Club, Carmel, Indiana.
Johnson was in red-hot form in 2016 having won his first major championship winning the U. S. Open and the BMW Championship was his third win of the year. He started by shooting 67 and in the second round, he scored a magnificent 63 which was the main difference between him and Paul Casey.
They had identical scores in each round except the second and that won Johnson the tournament by three strokes. He ended with 23-under 265 and moved to #1 on the FedEx Cup rankings. He also earned $1,530,000 and as a result of his amazing performances throughout the year, he won the PGA Player of the Year.
2010 - September 9-12
Dustin Johnson claimed his fourth PGA Tour victory with the BMW Championship and his first in the playoffs. He won by a single stroke with Paul Casey finishing second.
Johnson ended with a winning score of 9-under 275 and leaped from #16 to #2 in the FedEx Cup rankings. He took home $1,350,000 as the winner and ended the season ranked 5th in the final leaderboard.
Jason Day - 2015
The 35-year-old turned professional in 2006 and 2015 has to be one of the best years for the Australian golfer. He recorded 5 wins in 2015 which included the PGA Championship that he won in August.
The BMW Championship was held in Conway Farms Golf Club, Lake Forest, Illinois, from September 17-20 and all 70 players took part in the tournament.
Jason Day took the lead in the very first round after shooting 61 and continued with a brilliant 63 to maintain his lead. He shot 69 in both rounds three and four to end the tournament with a winning score of 22-under 262.
Day won by six strokes to register his 5th win of the year and Daniel Berger was the runners-up. He was allotted $1,485,000 as the winner's share and he finished 3rd in the final leaderboard.
Billy Horschel - 2014
The 2014 FedEx Cup Playoffs were held from August 21-September 14 and the BMW Championship was held between September 4-7 at the Cherry Hills Country Club. Englewood, Colorado.
Justin Johnson missed the tournament and the field was set at 69 players. Billy Horschel was consistent during all the rounds with round three turning out to be his best round as he shot 63. His winning score in the end was 14-under 266 and won over Bubba Watson by two strokes.
Horschel recorded his second PGA Tour victory with this win and earned a winner's share of $1,440,000. The win took him from #20 to #2 in the rankings and he later won the Tour Championship the following week and was the season champion in 2014.
Zach Johnson - 2013
The two-time major championship winner claimed his tenth career win by winning the BMW Championship held at the Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois, from September 12-16.
After more than a year since winning the John Daree Classic in 2012, he was in search of another win and qualified for the BMW Championship as he was ranked #27. He started by shooting 64 which was his best round and ended with 16-under 268.
He won by two strokes over Nick Watney which took him to #4 in the rankings. He also earned $1,440,000 for the win and ended the season as 5th in the final leaderboard.
Rory Mcllroy - 2012
Olympia Fields North Course past results at the BMW Championship only have one winner and Rory Mcllroy could be the new winner on the golf course.
Rory Mcllroy had just won the second tournament of the 2014 playoff series which was the Deutsche Bank Championship by a single stroke and was in good form coming into the BMW Championship which was held from September 6-9.
He started brilliantly as he shot 64 in the first round and was consistent in the next three rounds. His winning score at the end was 20-under 268 becoming the sixth player to win the tournament. This was his fourth victory of the year and his sixth PGA Tour win.
