One of the five invitational tournaments in the PGA Tour category, the Memorial Tournament has been played annually at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, since 1976.
It is usually held in late May or early June. The tournament is hosted by Jack Nicklaus and is named in memory of his father, Charlie Nicklaus.
In its four-decade belong competition history, Tiger Woods has claimed the most titles, a record five times, with his last victory coming in 2012.

1. Billy Horschel - 2022
Billy Horschel won his maiden Memorial Tournament title in 2022. Horschel is back at the Muirfield Village Golf Club to uphold his title in 2023.
The 36-year-old American golfer had a successful run in the 202. Billy finished with a total score of 275, 13 strokes under par.
Horschel's performance contained consistent rounds, scoring 70 in the first, 68 in the second, 65 in the third, and 72 in the final round.
His total score of 275 secured him the victory with a four-stroke margin ahead of his closest competitor, Aaron Wise. The current world no 35 bagged a total prize of $2,160,000 for his hard-fought win in 2022.
That was his seventh PGA Tour wins and his first time winning at Muirfield. Since turning pro in 2009, Horschel had to wait until 2013 to secure his first PGA Tour triumph at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2013.
Memorial Tournament 2023 odds have Billy Horschel at 125-1 to defend his title, whereas Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win at 6-1.
2. Patrick Cantlay - 2021
Patrick Cantlay claimed his second Memorial trophy in 2021. Patty Ice defeated Collin Morikawa via playoff on 6 June 2021 to lift the title.
Cantlay showcased his dominance in the 2020-21 PGA Tour winning three golf events including BMW Championship and Tour Championship.
After turning pro in 2012, Patrick has been on a steep rise in popularity thanks to his outstanding mastery and skills. He achieved his career-high 3rd ranking on January 23, 2022.

3. Jon Rahm - 2020
Spanish golfer Jon Rahm secured the 2020 Memorial Tournament. Rahm also has two major championships, the US Open, and the 2023 Masters.
The upcoming Memorial Tournament will be his fourth PGA Tour participation in 2023. His 2023 Masters victory propelled him to the top of the world golf ranking in April 2023.
Standing at a height of 6 feet 2 inches, Jon Rahm has accomplished an impressive feat of winning 11 PGA Tour events throughout his career.

4. Bryson DeChambeau - 2018
Bryson DeChambeau had an amazing victory at the 2018 Memorial Tournament. With this triumph, Bryson registered his first PGA victory of 2018.
He started the tournament on a solid note, carding a score of 69 in the first round. He continued his strong play in the second round, posting a score of 67, which helped him maintain his position near the top of the leaderboard.

5. Jason Dufner - 2017
Jason Dufner Memorial triumph in 2017 was his fifth PGA Tour victory. Duf claimed his only major championship, the PGA Championship in 2013.
The Ohio native had a solid performance in the 2017 Memorial, finishing the tournament with a total score of 275, 13 strokes under par. Jason played consistently in each round, scoring 65 in the first and second rounds, 77 in the third, and 68 in the final round.
Dufner secured victory with a margin of three strokes and grabbed prize money of $1,566,000. He had to fend off tough competition from Rickie Fowler and Anirban Lahiri, who finished as runners-up.
Besides, the 46-year-old achieved a significant victory in the 2013 PGA Championship at Oak Hill. Dufner had earlier come close to winning the 2011 PGA Championship but ended up as the second-place finisher.
6. William McGirt - 2016
North Carolina native William McGirt secured victory at the 2016 Memorial Tournament. The historic success remains his single PGA Tour win.
McGirt made a solid start to the tournament with 70 points in the 1st round, followed by 68, 64, and ending strong with 71 in the final round. With a total of 273 score, he defeated Jon Curran in the playoff with a par.
McGirt has only managed two professional wins in his two-decade-long playing career, with the other being the 2007 Tarheel Tour at the Cabarrus Classic. He obtained his highest world ranking of 38 in July 2016 after winning at the Muirfield Village Golf Club.
He has achieved over 50 excellent placements within the top 25 and has earned an impressive sum of more than eleven million dollars. William McGirt net worth is $11 million as of 2023.
7. David Lingmerth - 2015
David Lingmerth dominated the 2015 Memorial Tournament with a win at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. He bagged the 1,160,000 prize money.
The Swedish international golf professional, who began competing at a high level in 2010, has so far gathered three Tour wins, including one in the 2015 Memorial. The other two came in the Korn Ferry Tour at the 2013 Humana Challenge and 2016 CareerBuilder Challenge.
Lingmerth's 72 points in the Round 3 were crucial for his win as he managed to hit a score of 273 with 15 under par. In the playoff round against English golfer Justin Rose, David won with a par on the 3rd extra hole.
Similarly, another of his notable performance was in the 2013 Players Championship. Lingmerth was in the lead and performed strongly after the third round but ended up finishing in second place, just two strokes behind the renowned golfer Tiger Woods.
8. Hideki Matsuyama - 2014
Hideki Matsuyama clinched his first PGA Tour win at the 2014 Memorial Tournament. Matsuyama defeated Kevin Na in the final playoff.
The Japanese linksman started well with a 70 score in the first round and maintained his momentum till the end of the fourth round with 69 points, taking his total tally to 275 as he completed the hole 13 strokes under par.
The trophy embodied his initial triumph in the prestigious PGA category, laying the foundation for an impressive accumulation of seven subsequent PGA Tour championships in his esteemed portfolio, commencing with his victorious outing in 2014.

9. Matt Kuchar - 2013
Matt Kuchar's Memorial Tournament triumph in 2013 was his second title that year after securing the WGC-Accenture Match Play earlier.
Kuchar maintained his composure through the rounds as he hit two 70s in the R2 and R3 to make a total score of 276 by the end of Round 4.

Tiger Woods is the most prominent name in the list of Memorial Tournament Past Winners, having won the tournament record-breaking 5 times.
