Dennis Rodman Mom Shirley Rodman A Big Part Of His Childhood Growing Up

Dennis Rodman parents are Philander Rodman Jr and Shirley Rodman. Philander and Shirley divorced in 1970 in Texas. 

After they split up, Philander married the military chaplain's daughter with whom he had been having a relationship.

When Dennis was young his father left him and settled in Phillippines. Shirley took care of her daughters and son.

She did many jobs to support her children. She gave him the nickname "The Worm" because of the way he wiggles when playing pinball. 

When Rodman was four years old his mother sent him to a nursery. He avoided going there since he was so attached to her.

Rodman stated that his mother showed more love for his two sisters, who were both seen to be more gifted than he was at basketball.

His father Philander passed away from prostate cancer at 79 in Angeles City, Pampanga on July 14, 2020. 

Philander Rodman Jr In The U.S. Air Force

Philander was a member of the U.S. Air Force in the Philippines. 

He was in the U.S. Army as an aviator who later fought in the Vietnam war. Rodman ran the Soul Restaurant in Saigon while serving in Vietnam with the Air Force.

He catered to GIs and was known for his gizzards, pig feet, ham hocks, and other Southern specialties. He also ran a restaurant when he first arrived at Clark Air Base.

After working for 17 years Philander resigned from Air Force in 1977 after being charged with stealing military hardware from the base.

Philander has 29 kids from different women. He left his son Dennis at age five and had been estranged from him for 42 years.

The father and son met at an exhibition game at Mall of Asia Arena in 2012. Philander was happy and surprised to meet him. 

As he left his son, he married the military chaplain's daughter; however, his new marriage lasted until 1977. 

Philander also revealed he has 27 children from four wives. 

Shirley Rodman 

Shirley raised Dennis and her two daughters when her husband abandoned them. 

She took up many odd jobs to keep the family afloat. She moved alongside her son and daughters to a housing called OAK Cliff in Dallas and did four jobs at a time. 

Shirley has been mom and dad and did her best, but Dennis was not impressed. He claims that she was not loving him and never hugged him.

He also declared that she was a terrible mother and treated his sisters better than him. 

Shirley kicked him out of her house when he was 18 years old. 

Despite never having played basketball for a school team, he got a chance to play for Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Dennis Rodman and wife Michelle Mayor married in 2003. Dennis has previously walked down the aisle twice. 

He first married Annie Bakes in 1992 and has one daughter Alexis Caitlyn. Annie and Dennis first met in 1987 at the club. 

However, the pair divorced in 1993. Dennis then married model Carmen Electra in 1998. 

Their relationship also didn't last long; Dennis and Carmen split up in 1999. The basketball player then tied the knot again in 2003.

He married Michelle Moyer and has two children son Dennis Jr and a daughter Trinity. After spending nine years together, they parted away.

Annie was born on April 26, 1965, in Allentown, Pennslyvania, USA.

She is a former model who started modeling at the age of 16. She graduated from the University of Pennslyvania. 

Annie modeled for print commercials and was also a Ford Model. In 1986, her modeling career ended due to the scars and injuries she suffered in a vehicle accident.

Dennis Rodman Jr is a basketball player. He plays college basketball for the Washington State Cougars of the Pac-12 Conference.

Rodman Jr played for Corona del Mar High School and was transferred to JSerra Catholic High School. 

He started playing basketball with Washington State in 2019. He traveled to New York City with his friend on March 29, 2022.
