Georgia Amoore Has An Australian Background
Georgia was born in April 2001 to mom Kelly Lee Amoore and dad Phil Amoore. Kelly is a horse trainer in the Miners Rest Victoria.
Amoore, the current Virginia Tech point guard and ACC sensation, was not solely dedicated to basketball growing up in Australia.
Her mother, Kelly did not believe that her short daughter had a future in basketball and tried to steer her toward other sports. Georgia played Australian Rules Football, a sport her father was involved in, and on both a boy's and girls' teams.
However, after receiving a concussion from football, her mother urged her to give up the sport and focus on basketball.
Georgia also participated in taekwondo against boys and cricket because her father played netball, similar to basketball but without dribbling, futsal, and track and field.
Swimming was not her favorite sport because it messed up her hair. When Georgia was around 17 years old, she focused on basketball because she was passionate about the game.
Georgia Amoore Father
Georgia dad Phil Amoore is currently employed as a Lift Truck Specialist since November 2017. Before, he worked in sales at Homestead Carpet Warehouse.
Phil's LinkedIn profile shows he worked as a warehouse manager for nearly a year at Goldacres in Ballarat. He spent nine years as a logistics group leader at Gekko Systems.
Furthermore, he was a hire controller at Coates Hire, managing customer service, cash handling, asset allocation, and freight distribution.
Regarding his education, Phil completed his high school education at Hampton High School in Melbourne. Later, he earned a diploma in project management from Federation University Australia in 2009.
Georgia Amoore Mother
Kelly owns Sylvan Lodge equine centre, which provides services for Thoroughbred horses, including pre-training, agistment, and rehabilitation.
She started the center with her sister, Anita. Growing up, Kelly and Anita worked in their father's racing stables, which sparked their lifelong passion for horses and their welfare.
Kelly has extensive experience with horses, having spent many hours performing track work, strapping, and saddling up horses in preparation for races in her father's stables.
She has since become skilled in all aspects of thoroughbred training and racing. Kelly cares profoundly and can identify potential issues impacting the horse's fitness and well-being.
Before his retirement, Kelly trained alongside her father and is currently working with Michelle Payne Racing Stables. She is responsible for managing the stables and resides on the property.
Georgia Amoore Family Life
The Amoore family comes from Ballarat, Australia. Her family moved to a horse farm when she was a teenager since her mother is a horse trainer.
The farm had a sand track, and after the horses ran on it, Amoore would exercise by running on it too.
The 21-year-old started playing basketball when she was five years old. One day, while watching her cousin Keeley Frawley play for a club team, Amoore was asked to join the game despite wearing flip-flops.
According to the Roanoke Times, Amoore formed a close friendship with Virginia Tech center Elizabeth Kitley when she dwelled with Kitley's family in Summerfield, North Carolina.
Due to the pandemic, Amoore did not see her mom and dad and her two siblings again until they visited in December 2021. However, Amoore was able to visit her home last summer.
Her mother saw her in Blacksburg for the second time last Christmas and stayed until mid-January, and Kelly enjoys spoiling her daughter and being there for her. Furthermore, Georgia will meet the eligibility criteria for the WNBA Draft in the year 2024.
Georgia Amoore Siblings
Georgia is one of three siblings and two of them are twins named Jemma and Toby Amoore. They are slightly younger than Georgia.
They all attended the same school while growing up, as evidenced by the pictures shared on Kelly's Facebook page.
Likewise, the images showcase the close bond between the siblings, including their fun-filled activities such as swimming, visiting zoos, and playing with the trinket.
In 2014, Jemma and Toby were also spotted having a good time at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and cheering for their sister Georgia during her matches.
It seems that Jemma and Toby also have a keen interest in sports, and it's likely that they are part of a junior sports team at their school.
Jemma is taking after her elder sister's passion for basketball, as she, too, has joined a basketball team and already won a title during the Victoria Country Junior Championship in 2021.
From her Facebook profile, it can be gleaned that she has achieved notable accomplishments as a basketball player.
