In 2017, during WBA super featherweight champion Mayweather Promotions, CEO Leonard Ellerbe stated Davis would fight again in the first quarter of 2018 alongside stablemate Badou Jack.

He also revealed that Davis would face a top-tier opponent. Ellerbe claimed that Davis would continue to compete at super featherweight and likely try to win a world championship in 2018.

Leonard Ellerbe was born to his parents Emer Ellerbe and Nokatta Ellerbe on September 6, 1965, in Washington, D.C, United States. 

Leonard has his own family of four, his wife Thatcher Mavis, and two children son Nockatt and daughter Emer. 

He was raised in a two-bedroom, first-floor apartment in Northeast Washington off Benning Road.
