Jim Furyk scored the only 58 in the history of the PGA Tour at the Travelers Championship in the year 2016.
This was the lowest points ever for a round of golf history and to put that achievement into perspective, the PGA Tour has played over 613,000 rounds.
He started his round on the back 9 and made birdies on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th holes. Moreover, he made a bogey on the 18th hole to finish the front nine at 8 under par 30.
He made birdies on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th holes to start the back nine. Furyk made a birdie on the 7th hole to finish the round at 12 under par 59.
Not only that but he finished the match tied for second place and was one stroke behind the winner Rory Mcllroy.
Bryson DeChambeau - LIV GOlf
Recently, Bryson DeChambeau shot a 58 on 14 August 2023 by shooting a 12-under 58 in the final round of the LIV Golf.
This is the lowest round-ever shot on the LIV Golf Tour and it is tied for the 4th lowest round-ever shot in pro golf.
He started shooting with two birdies, and he did not score over a 3 after 7 holes. This included four birdies in a row.
Bryson only scored on the eighth hole, yet he came back strong on the ninth with another birdie and a score of 28 through the first nine. He then continued his streak with birdies on the 10th, 11th, and 12th holes.
Moreover, he made his final birdie on the 18th hole with a 40-foot epic putt to secure the victory.
His round was highlighted by his driving distance. He has some of the longest drives in pro golf which was a huge help for this record-breaking round of 58. He also hit 16 greens in regulation which was the second-most of any player.
DeChambeau shot 58 is an incredible achievement and makes him one of only four players to have shot 58 in a professional golf tournament.
Chip Beck - PGA Tour
Chip Beck attended the Las Vegas Invitational at the Sunrise Golf Club in 1991 when he had no clue he would card a 59. He becomes one of only 6 PGA tour golfers scoring 59.
He started the round on the back 9 and made birdies on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th holes. He scores on the 18th hole to finish the front nine at 8 under par 30.
Chip made birdies on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th holes to start back 9 and 7th holes to finish the round at 13 under par 59. His 59 is considered one of the greatest rounds of golf ever played.
Al Geiberger - PGA Tour
Al Geiberger shot a 59 at the 1977 Memphis Classic and he would be awarded to be the first golfer to score a 59. This was the lowest PGA score ever achieved at that time.
His lowest 59 at the Danny Thomas Memphis Classic was a historic moment in golf history. Not only that but it was the first time a golfer shot under 60 in a PGA tournament.
Geiberger hit every fairway and every green in regulation and had only 23 putts. It was a major breakthrough for him and help him to win the PGA tournament.
His 59 also helped him to earn a position on the Ryder Cup team that year. Al went on to play in four Ryder Cups and won three of his 4 matches.
In 1995, he officially retired from his professional golf career and now he is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
