Lowest PGA score for 18 holes is 58 by Jim Furyk who set the record in 2016 while playing at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.

In the history of the sport, recording a score of 60-under was considered impossible a few decades back. Walter Hagen in 1923 recorded the lowest score of 62 and started the hunt for a score below 60.

It took more than three decades for the next person to beat the score and record 61 when Dow Finsterwald did it in 1950. Al Brosch scored a 60 in 1951 and every golfer wanted to be the first to score a 59 or less.

It was in 1977 that Al Geiberger scored the PGA Tour's first 59 during the second round at the Colonial Country Club, Cordova, Tennessee. History had been made that day.

A score of 57 or less might someday become the lowest PGA golf score for 18 holes. Sooner or later someone will beat Furyk's 58.

The lowest score in a single round or for all 72 holes may vary due to the length of the golf course as some tournaments are played on a par-70 course, some on a par-71 course, and some on a par-72 course.

Furyk achieved this feat on a par-70 course to surpass Al Geuberger's record score of 59 set by him during the 1977 Danny Thomas Memphis Classic of the PGA Tour. Furyk did not win the tournament and finished T-5.

Furyk became the first golfer to record the lowest score in PGA history when he scored 58. No other player on the PGA tour has recorded 58 or less.

Only Ryo Ishikawa (2010), Kim Seong-hyeon (2016), and Bryson DeChambeau (2023) have recorded a score of 58 among the leading professional tours. Ishikawa and Seong-hyeon scored on the Japan Golf Tour and DeChambeau while he was on LIV Golf.

In the PGA Tour, 12 players have recorded a score of under 60 with 11 players recording 59. Jim Furyk also holds another record for being the only player to record two scores below 60 on the PGA Tour. He also has a score of 59 in the second round of the BMW Championship in 2013.

The Korn Ferry Tour, which is a second-tier tour or the developmental tour for the PGA Tour has also recorded two scores of 58 by Stephen Jager in 2016 and Alejandro del Rey in 2021. In the PGA Tour Champions, Kevin Sutherland scored 59 in 2014.

In the LPGA, only Annika Sorenstam has recorded a sub-60 score. She recorded 59 at the Standard Register PING in 2001 to register the best 18-hole score in the LPGA. The lowest rounds in the women's major is 61 recorded by Kim Hyo-joo, Lee Jeong-eun, and Leona Maguire.

Lowest 18 hole score at the Masters is set by Nick Price and Greg Norman. They both scored 63 at Augusta National in 1986 and 1996 respectively.

Nick Price and Greg Norman both recorded the lowest score and yet failed to win the major championship. Both the golfers missed out on donning the famous Green Jacket.

Lowest 18 hole score in a major championship is 62 which was first achieved by Branden Grace in 2017. Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele are the other two.

Fowler and Schauffele both recorded their best score during the U. S. Open in July 2023. Only three golfers have scored such low scores in a major championship to date.

Nick Price - 1986

Nick Price is currently playing in the PGA Tour Champions and while he was part of the PGA Tour, he recorded 18 PGA Tour wins including 3 major championships.

Price was the first among the three to have recorded a score of 9-under in a single round at Agusta National. He scored 63 in the third round and even with such a round, he finished T-5 in the end. That also happens to be his best finish at the Masters.

Greg Norman - 1996

Greg Norman also scored the lowest 18 hole score at Masters exactly after a decade in 1996. He scored 63 in the very first round and led for three rounds.

He ended up shooting a disappointing 6-over 78 when it mattered the most and finished as runners-up behind Nick Faldo.

The Lowest 72 hole score at the Masters

One of the highest earners in golf, Johnson's record of 20-under 268 is a record that will be hard to beat

The lowest 72 hole score at the Masters belongs to Dustin Johnson who set the record in November 2020. He scored a 20-under 268 for the title.

As the tournament was shifted from August to November due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many believe that the weather conditions played a vital role in helping him set such a low score for the championship.

Although there is no doubt that Johnson won the tournament due to his skills and because he is one of the best golfers in modern times, many believe that the score recorded by Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth is the original or the official record.

Tiger Woods - 1997

Tiger Woods recorded a final score of 18-under 270 to beat Tom Kite by 12 strokes to win the Masters in 1997. Woods had an amazing second and third round as he scored 66 and followed it up with 65. His third-round score was really close to equalling the record for the lowest round at the Masters.

Tiger Woods lowest 18 hole score is 59 which he set in 1997 at Isleworth Country Club. He was playing alongside Mark O'Meara and is his best round of golf.

Jordan Speit - 2015

Jordan Speit scored 64-66-70-70 to win the Masters with a score of 18-under 270 equalling Tiger Wood's score. A brilliant first round almost equaled Price and Norman's lowest round record. Speit beat Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose by 4 strokes to win the Masters in 2015.

18 Hole Golf Score Ever

Rhein Gibson holds the record for recording the lowest 18 hole golf score ever when he scored 55 in May 2012. He was playing at the River Oaks Golf Club.

The score is also officially recognized by the Guinness World Records. He shot a 16-under 55 to set the record while playing with Ryan Munson and Eric Fox.

South Lakes Golf Course is within 100 miles of River Oaks Golf Club and Alexander Hughes is the second person to have scored a 16-under 55 to become a joint record holder with Gibson.

Both Gibson and Hughes are the official record holders but did not record the scores during competitive golf. Irish golfer David Carey scored 11-under 57 in round one at the Cervino Open on the Alps Tour in 2019.

In competitive golf, Carey's 57 is the lowest score in a single round. Bobby Wyatt and Alex Ross have also recorded a score of 57 in the Alabama Boys Junior Championship (2010) and the Dogwood Invitational (2019) respectively.
