Since its establishment in 1998, nine Arizona Diamondback players have had the honor to win the prestigious award. Pitcher Zack Greinke won the award six times in his career.
The Rawling Gold Glove Award is given to players in the MLB who have showcased exceptional and supreme fielding performances. It is given to individuals in each fielding position.
The award is given to both the National and American League with each fielding position having three finalists. The winner is announced after the managers and coaches vote in each league.
In 2011, the Platinum Glove Award was introduced, where the award is given to the best defensive player. The winner is selected by the fans from a pool of Gold Glove winners from the same year.
Although numerous Arizona players have won the Gold Glove Award, no Diamondback player has won the Platinum Glove Award to date.
Christian Walker - 2022
The 2022 Gold Glove finalists were Christian Walker, Matt Olson, and Paul Goldschmidt at first base. Christian Walker walked away with the award.
Christian was a fourth-round pick by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. He has been with Diamondbacks since 2017.
Walker has batted .250 and recorded 103 home runs in his MLB career. In 2023, he also signed a one-year contract with the Diamondbacks.
Christian also won the Fielding Bible Award, which is awarded to the best defensive fielder player for each fielding position. Walker had prevented 11 runs in the season and had 14 OOA (Outs Above Average).
Nick Ahmed - 2019, 2018
Nick Ahmed won the Gold Glove Award in 2018 and 2019 at Shortstop. Ahmed was the NL winner ahead of Paul DeJong and Trevor Story.
Nick was drafted 85th overall by the Atlanta Braves in the 2011 MLB Draft. He was later traded to the Diamondbacks after the 2012 season.
2018
In the 2018 season, Ahemed batted .234 and recorded 16 homers with 70 RBIs. This was his best offensive season and also recorded his best defensive season the same year.
In his shortstop position, he led the National League with 21 defensive runs saved and that led to him winning the Gold Glove Award.
2019
Nick batted .254, recorded 19 homers (career high), and 82 RBIs. His offensive ability was followed by his brilliant defensive ability that helped him secure his second and consecutive Gold Glove Award.
David Peralta - 2019
David Peralta won the Golden Glove Award as a Left Fielder in 2019. Juan Soto and Hunter Renfroe were the runners-up in the National League.
Peralta first signed with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2004 and was released in 2009. Arizona signed him in 2013 and made his debut in 2014.
Peralta batted .275/.343/.461 and recorded 12 homers in the 2019 season. Along with his offensive aspect in the game, his defensive prowess also bore fruit as he went on to win the Golden Glove Award alongside his teammate, Nick Ahmed.
Zack Greinke - 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014
Zack Greinke tops the chart of Arizona gold glove winners. Greinke won the coveted award six years in a row from 2014 to 2019 as a pitcher.
Zack is the third pitcher in the National League to win at least six Gold Glove Awards consecutively. In addition, he is also a two-time MLB ERA Leader in 2009 and 2015.
Greinke was a First Round pick by the Kansas City Royals in the Major League Draft in 2002 and made his debut in 2004. He joined the D-backs in 2015 from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
2014-2015
Zack won his first two Gold Gloves as a pitcher in 2014 and 2015 while he represented the Dodgers.
In 2014, he finished with a 17-8 record and a 2.71 ERA. In 2015, he recorded 200 strikeouts and ended the season with a 19-3 record.
2016-2018
In 2016, Greinke ended the season with 13-7 and a 4.37 ERA. Furthermore, he also recorded his 2000th strikeout in his career.
In 2017, Zack recorded 215 strikeouts and finished with a 17-7 record and a 3.20 ERA that earned him his fourth Gold Glove Award. In 2018, he had a 15-11 record and a 3.21 ERA and won his fifth in a row.
2019
Greinke was traded in July 2019 to the Houston Astros. By the end of the season, he had a 2.93 ERA, 18-5, three homers, and eight RBIs.
Despite playing for the new franchise, his winning streak didn't stop as Zack won his 6th consecutive Golden Glove award with the Astros.
Paul Goldschmidt - 2021, 2017, 2015, 2013
Gold glove winners by year with four awards is Paul Goldschmidt. Paul won his first ward in 2013 and his latest triumph came in 2021.
Goldschmidt was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 8th round of the 2009 draft. He made his debut in 2011 and batted .250 with 8 homers.
2013 and 2015
In 2013, Paul Goldschmidt won his first Gold Glove Award at 1B. Adrian Gonzalez and Anthony Rizzo were the runners-up in that season.
The elite D-backs baseman won his second award in 2015 and batted .321 and 33 homers. In addition, Paul recorded 110 RBIs.
2017 and 2021
Goldschmidt finished the season with 36 homers, batted .297, and 120 RBIs in 2017. Along with his Gold Glove Award, he also won the Silver Slugger Award.
In 2018, Paul was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. He finished his 2021 season with 31 homers, slashing .294/.365/.514, and 99 RBIs and won his fourth Gold Glove award.
A.J. Pollock - 2015
A. J. Pollock, a World Series Champion with Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020, won his one and only Gold Glove Award in 2015 as a Center Fielder.
Pollock was picked by Arizona in the 2009 MLB Draft. He made his debut in 2012 and batted .247 and two homers. He also recorded eight RBIs.
In 2015, Pollock batted .315 and recorded 20 home runs with 76 RBIs. He won his Gold Glove Award in 2015 and signed with the Dodgers in 2019.
Gerardo Parra - 2013, 2011
Gerardo Parra is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner. Parra won his first in 2011 as a Left Fielder and repeated the feat later in 2013.
He was called up by the D-backs on 13 May 2009 in place of Conor Jackson. He made his debut the same day and scored a homer in his first bat.
2011
Gerardo batted at .292 and recorded eight HR in 2011. He also had a stellar defensive performance and was a threat due to his constant throwing out runners.
2013
In 2013, Parra was awarded the Right Fielder Gold Glove for his excellent defensive performance along with his offensive performance.
Along with his two Gold Gloves, the Venezuelan outfielder also became the World Series Champion in 2019 with the Washington Nationals.
Orlando Hudson - 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009
Orlando Hudson is also a four-time 2B Gold Glove Award winner. Orlando won his first in 2005 and the last triumph came in 2009.
Hudson was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in Round 33 in the 1997 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut in 2002 and played for the Blue Jays till 2005. He also won his first 2B Gold Glove Award as a Blue Jay in the American League.
2006-2007
After his stint in the American League, Orlando joined the Diamondbacks in 2006. He ended his season with 15 home runs, batted .287, and 67 RBIs. He won his second Gold Glove and also became the sixth infielder in MLB history to win the award in both the leagues (AL and NL).
In 2007, he batted .294 and was selected in his first All-Star game. He also won his third overall and second Gold Glove as a Diamondback player.
2009
Hudson signed with the Dodgers in 2019 as a free agent. After a good offensive display, he also contributed to the defense and for that, Orlando was awarded his fourth Gold Glove Award.
Steve Finley - 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2004
Steve Finley joins the illustrious list of 5-time Diamondbacks Gold Glove winners. Steve won his first in 1995 and last in 2004 as a Center Fielder.
The 2001 World Series Champion was drafted in the 13th Round in 1987 by the Baltimore Orioles. In 1991, Finley was traded to the Astros.
1995-1996
Finley won his first Gold Glove Award in 1995 and batted .297 and recorded ten homers. In 1996 he won his second and was the MVP in the All-Star Series. He also had 126 runs and 45 doubles that season.
1999-2000
Finley signed with the Diamondbacks in December 1998. He ended the 1999 season with 34 homers and 103 RBIs.
He followed up his offense with the Gold Glove Award for his defensive excellence. Steve won his fourth Gold Glove Award the following year and also scored 35 home runs in 2000.
2004
Steve was traded to LA Dodgers in 2004 and ended the season with 36 home runs. He was already 39 at that time and was approaching the end of his career.
He had played 162 games at that time and also won his fifth and last Gold Glove Award that year. Finley later signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as a free agent.
