Ole Miss Quarterbacks Last 10 Years

Ole Miss Starting Quarterback includes players Jaxson Dart (2023), Matt Corral (2020), Jordan Ta'amu (2017), Jason Pellerin (2015), and others.

NCAA's 2nd most dominant Southeastern team has some of the best QBs who have successfully graced the field. Their success can also be attributed to the talented q-backs who gave their all in the game. 

In their 2021 season, the team led 10 consecutive victories, placing second in the Western division. J. Dart made nine Touch Downs in the 2021 season, he more than tripled his TD by securing 20 in last year.

Ole Miss Quarterbacks History

Formed in 1893, Ole Miss Rebels were once the dominant college team throughout the country, thanks to the dominant q-back over the years. Ole Miss QB history is given below: 

David Cutcliffe (1999-2004)

Mississippi representing team is known for their David Cutcliffe era from (1999-2004). They brought home four season titles consecutively from 1999 to 2002. 

Eli Manning, the two-time super bowl champion led Ole Miss to victory against Oklahoma State in 2003. He achieved 81 touchdowns and 137.7 avg passing ratings. Manning was picked number one in the 2004 NFL draft. 

Houston Nutt (2008-11)

Coach Nutt did not have any title success in the college's history. Houston became the center of controversy in 2010 when he recruited 37 players against SEC rules.

However, Nutt did bring optimism to the teams and racked wins against Memphis, South Carolina, Oklahoma State, and their Mississippi rival, Starville in the 2009 season.

Hugh Freeze (2012-2016)

Hugh Freeze became the 37th head coach of the Rebels. In 2014, Freese made Ole the strongest team in the last forty years in terms of their seasonal performance. The team defeated Alabama at home and won nine games in that season.

Ole Miss finished second in 2015 in the SEC West campaign. They also beat Oklahoma State 48-20, after appearing in the 2016 Sugar Bowl the last four decades. 

However, Freeze was fired due to moral causes whereas, Nutt was held responsible for violating academic and recruiting procedures of college football. 

Matt Luke era (2017-present)

Matt Luke is appointed head coach of the team. However, Ole Miss is suffering repercussions from the period of Nutt and Freeze due to academic and recruiting violations. 

Luke's team secured ten wins in the Western Division and placed second in the SEC. The Rebels were invited to the Sugar Bowl, but they were defeated by Baylor in 2022. 

Jaxon Dart, the current QB, accomplished 29 touchdowns and completed passes of more than 3000 yards in the 2021-2022 season. 

Dart has become a key player through his performance in the 2022 season. The team won eight games against teams like Tulsa, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Central Arkansas, and others. 

Jaxson Dart (2022-present)

Jaxson Dart played high school football at Corner Canyon High School in Utah, he transferred to Ole Miss in the 2021 spring. 

In his senior year, Jaxson Dart was named Gatorade Football Player of the Year with 4, 691 yards passes and 67 TDs. He was also honored with the MaxPreps National Player of the Year. 

Jaxson's time with Ole Miss has led him to secure 3,716 yards of passes and 25 TDs. He also has two rushing TDs and 595 rushing passes. 

Matt Corral (2018-2021)

Matt Corral is currently with Pathers, Corral was selected in the third round of the NFL 2022 draft. During his time with the Ole Rebels, he secured 3,337 yards of passes and 29 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. 

Corral entered into Sugar Bowl. Matt was a key player who led his college team to 10 wins in the Western Division in the SEC title. 

Jordan Ta'amu (2017-2018)

Jordan Ta'amu's time with Ole was only one year. He started as a backup for Shea Patterson and became starting QB in the 2018 season. 

During his time with Mississippi College, he secured 3,918 yards, 19 touchdowns, and made eight interceptions. He achieved significant success during a short period with Ole. 

At present, Ta'amu is with American football quarterback for the DC defenders in XFL. 

Shea Patterson (2016-2017)

Patterson is an Ole Miss football quarterbacks for the Canadian Football League (CFL). Shea was a five-star prospect that committed to the Univeristy of Mississipi. 

Patterson became a national highlight with his combined 918 yards of passes and 9 touchdowns in the first two games of the season. However, he was plagued with controversy and injuries that hindered his time with the Rebels

Eli Manning (2000-2003)

Eli Manning is widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks ever in the history of the University of Mississippi football team.

From his sophomore year, Eli became the starting quarterback and led the team to victories over the teams of Kentucky, Alabama, and LSU. 

During his three years with Mississippi uni, he secured 81 touchdowns and made 10,119 passing yards. Manning is one of the top athletes at Ole, leading his team through consecutive victories in SEC. 

Ole Miss mascot is Tony The Landshark since 2018. The Rebels have three official mascots Colonel Rebel, Black Bear, and Tony the Landshark. 

Colonel Reb is a cartoonish, older-aged colonel, who is said to be inspired by "Blind Jim" who is a Mississippi historian and prominent alumnus of the university. 

Reb also received the "SEC Mascot of the Year" award in 1986 and secured second place in "National Mascot of the Year" in the same year. 

Colonel Reb

Colonel Reb served as the mascot of the University of Mississippi team from 1979 to 2003. It was replaced by the Black Bear mascot in 2010. 

In 1940, "Colonel Reb" was also a respected title among male students. It was later adopted as the name of the mascot for the Ole Miss. 

Black Bear

Rebel Black Bear replaced Colonel in 2010. It became the uni's mascot from 2010 to October 6, 2017. The mascot was designed through content among the fans. 

Ole Miss students voted to choose the new mascot. The Black Bear was based on the legend of Theodore "Teddy Bear" Roosevelt who refused to shoot a black bear in Mississippi. 

Tony The Landshark

Tony the Landshark is an official mascot and replaced the previous amulet in 2018. Landshark gained popularity through a Veteran Tony Fein. 

He appeared in the game but later passed away due to a substance overdose. The picture of Tony the Landshark reemerged after Ole Miss achieved the "Best Defense in the Nation" title. 

This symbol is used today across all the sports around the Mississippi University including baseball, basketball, volleyball, softball, and football.
