Tamika Catchings Dad Harvey Catchings and Family

Tamika Catchings parents are Harvey Catchings and Wanda Catchings. The couple raised their three children in Stratford New Jersey. 

Harvey and Wanda first crossed paths while enrolling at Hardin-Simmons University. Knowingly, they met between the years 1970 and 1974.

Since their first encounter on the university premises, the couple has started a family together and has been together ever since. Although it is not specified, their wedding probably took place a few years after they graduated from university, based on the ages of their children.

Nevertheless, their relationship didn't last forever, as their marriage ended in divorce. After separating from Wanda, Harvey married for the second time.

A Facebook post by his partner, LeTrece, shows that the couple married on November 30, 1996. The post showed the couple celebrating their 26th anniversary.

From Harvey's second marriage to LeTrece, he has a son named Bryce Catchings. She is a school counselor at Conroe Independent School District. LeTrece, a graduate of Chicago State University, worked at Klein Independent School and Spring ISD. 

Harvey Catchings

Tamika father Harvey Catchings is a Texas Notary Public freelancer who began working in this sector in May 2022 after spending over 20 years in the mortgage and financial services industry. 

He recognized the shortage of notaries and decided to help those who needed legal documents, whether for personal, mortgage-related, dealership-related, or estate-related purposes. 

His role as a notary is to authenticate the signatures of those involved in transactions. In April 2021, he started Catchings Promotions, a promotional advertising company, to help businesses with limited budgets. 

Before starting his notary business, he worked as a senior loan officer at Trebor Reverse Mortgage for almost four years and as a branch manager at Open Mortgage for five years. 

Catchings began his professional career as a basketball player after earning a bachelor's degree in behavioral science from Hardin-Simmons University in 1974. 

During his career, the 6-foot-9-inch-tall Harvey played in the National Basketball Association from 1974 to 1985, representing the New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Milwaukee Bucks.

Wanda Catchings

Tamika mom Wanda Catchings worked at American Airlines for 18 years before retiring in October 2015. She began working for the company in July 1997 as part of the sales department. 

Wanda's LinkedIn profile also provides information about her education, indicating that she graduated from McMurry College and later enrolled at Hardin Simmons University. 

In addition, Wanda is active on Facebook, where she has shared several photos of her family, including her daughter Tamika and her grandchildren, as well as their accomplishments.

Tamika has three siblings named Tauja, Kenyon, and a step brother named Bryce Catchings. 

Tamika Catchings and her siblings were exposed to various sports from an early age. Her father would take her and her siblings to play basketball every Sunday night.

Catchings describes how her dad would work with them briefly before they played games with older guys or watched the games. 

These experiences helped Catchings develop a love for basketball and a desire to pursue it as a career. Her father's success in the NBA inspired her, and she hoped to follow in his footsteps. 

Kenyon Catchings

Tamika brother Kenyon Catchings has been a surgical glaucoma manager at Alcon since March 2022. 

According to his LinkedIn page, Catchings has worked as an eye care territory manager at RVL Pharmaceuticals in the St. Louis area, where he helped diagnose patients with ptosis and offered nonsurgical treatment for those patients.

He first started his career working in Motorola company as their competitive intelligence specialist and product planner/market developer.

Catchings has a solid professional background as a Sales Executive with more than ten years of experience working in various specialties, including Ophthalmology, Primary Care, Psychiatry, Neurology, Endocrinology, and Pain Management. 

In addition to his experience in the healthcare industry, Kenyon also has a background in the wireless technology industry. 

He has roles in product marketing, market development, and business intelligence. With his diverse experience, Kenyon brings a unique perspective and skill set to his work as a sales executive.

Aside from this, Kenyon married his wife, Eileen Placke Catchings, in April 2020. She works as a Senior Ocular Specialty Representative at Bausch & Lomb Pharmaceutical. 

Tauja Catchings

Tauja Catchings is a former American basketball player who played in both the WNBA and professionally overseas in France and Sweden. 

She graduated from Stevenson High School in 1996, was named a Nike and Parade All-American, and Miss Basketball Illinois. 

Tauja attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she played basketball and earned a speech communication and a rhetoric degree in 2000. 

During her college year, she was named to the All-Big Ten freshman team and helped lead the Illini to their first Sweet Sixteen appearance in 1997-98.

After being drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in the 3rd round of the 2000 WNBA Draft, Tauja played briefly before heading to Europe to continue her professional career. 

She is also known for her work with the Catch the Stars Foundation, which she co-founded with her sisters to help make a divergence in the lives of young people.

Tauja has also worked as a radio color analyst for the Chicago Sky and is a women's basketball studio analyst for the Big Ten Network. Additionally, she works as a real estate broker at Highgarden Real Estate, according to her LinkedIn page.

She dwells in Indianapolis with her husband Timothy Fry and sons Kanon and Kolton.

Bryce Catchings

Bryce Catchings works as a customer service representative at DUNKIN DONUT. He has been working there for almost five years, first joining in October 2017. 

Additionally, he noted his responsibilities on his LinkedIn page, highlighting his service as a cashier who also prepares and delivers food orders. 

His Instagram page has recent details about his start-up business. He has started a Kicks store named Catch Kicks in Houston, Texas. 

Bryce's Instagram bio has the link to his retail store with around 1,000 followers. The page has multiple images of his Nike, Jordan, and multiple branded kicks.

In October 2022, Bryce had his kick sale at NRG Stadium; it's the most recent post he has made on his Instagram page. 

Tamika married husband Parnell Smith on 7th February 2016 at the Skyline Club. Smith met Catchings in Los Angeles in July 2014.

Catchings and her boyfriend Smith lived in different states - Tamika in Indianapolis and Parnell in Rockford, Illinois. Parnell planned a surprise date night during one of his visits to see Tamika. 

Parnell had a romantic dinner date planned in a hotel. During the meal, the waitress asked if they were celebrating a special occasion, and Tamika replied that it was just their official date night. After dinner, they went back to Tamika's place. 

While relaxing on the couch, Parnell showed her pictures of them on his iPad, with their favorite song playing in the background. While she was in the moment, he got down on one knee and proposed, and Tamika said yes.

The couple visited Monument Circle and Bankers Life Fieldhouse at their intimate ceremony to take pictures before their wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony was a small and quick affair, with only 27 people, including the photographer, in attendance. The reception was held in the adjacent room, and the couple enjoyed celebrating with their close friends and family, which she describes as "perfect."

Parnell Smith Is A Former Basketball Player

Parnell Smith, a former basketball player for Pike High School, was born and raised in Indianapolis. He was a prominent Pike High School basketball team member that won state titles in 2001 and 2003. 

Per Indy Star, Smith played as a forward, standing at 6-6 and weighing 210 pounds. After finishing high school, Smith played college basketball at the University of Buffalo.

During high school, Smith averaged 10 points and seven rebounds per game. He was named first-team All-State as a sophomore and was selected twice for the All-Sectional, All-County, and All-State tournaments.

Tamika family includes her nephews, who are building on the legacy their aunt has left in the basketball world.

She has six nephews named Maleek, Jayce, Kale, Jamison, Kanon, and Kolton from her brother Kenyon and sister Tauja's side. 

Tamika has inspired many young athletes. Her legacy continues not only with her own achievements in the sport but also through her family members who are following in her footsteps.

Kanon Catchings

The Catchings family has a rich history of basketball success, and Kanon, the next generation, is no exception. 

As a 6-foot-6 forward, he understands the significance of his family's accomplishments but is determined to carve out his path in the sport.

He hopes to build on the legacy that Tauja and Tamika have left behind and pave the way for future generations of the Catchings family.

Catchings has committed to Purdue after an official visit to the university's campus. The 6-foot-6 athlete is set to join Jack Benter from Brownstown Central as the newest recruit for coach Matt Painter as Zach Edey goes to the NBA before the 2024 class.

This commitment maintains Purdue's streak of securing in-state recruits for their basketball program.

Kale Catchings

Kale is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Management at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

Before that, he earned his Bachelor's degree from Harvard University, where he concentrated on Economics with a secondary in African American Studies. 

Per his LinkedIn page, he is now exploring opportunities to incorporate his passion for basketball into his future career goals, potentially in sports management. 

Kale played basketball for three seasons at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Missouri, before transferring to Liberty High School for his senior year. 

After graduating from Harvard with an undergraduate degree in economics and a secondary degree in African American studies, he enrolled at Duke University for his graduate studies at the Fuqua School of Business.

Kale also played basketball for Harvard University, where he had 30 starts in 44 games, averaging 6.5 points on .476 field goal shooting with 3.0 rebounds.
