The FedEx championship is a playoff event where 70 players are selected at the end of the season on the basis of their PGA tour and Majors points.
FedEx's point leader begins the tournament with an advantage over the points leader in the Tour championship. The first two playoffs leader shall start with -10, second (-8), third (-7), fourth (-6), and only 26th to 30th player at zero.
These negative points shall be added to the FedEx Cup score from the 72-hole event thus lowest score shall be inaugurated as the champion.
The winner of the event takes home $18 million as a bonus and has the choice to not participate in a five-year tour with PGA.
